And What We Do

Ira Lacey

Owner & Master Carpenter

Hi there! I'm Ira, and I'm the one you'll work with on a daily basis once you, Melody and I fully define the details of your project and it's off and running.

I have over 25 years of carpentry experience both as an independent business owner and as a subcontractor for various construction outfits across the country.

Lacey Custom Carpentry was established in 2001 when I was living in CT. I had just had the unique opportunity to work with an exceptional master carpenter while serving as a premiere carpenter for Gedney Kitchens. It was during this timeframe that I was able to really take my skills to the next level as a true finish carpenter.

Over the years I've also had to pleasure of serving the greater Atlanta metro area and Boston's metro-west region and now I'm located in Alton, NH, which I intend to make my forever home as I continue to grow my business!

Melody Lacey

Designer & Project Manager

Hi - this is Tucker - I really love my dog!

I also love designing homes and the spaces & furniture within them, so I'm the designer (and project manager) so that Ira can focus on the carpentry and managing the subcontractors.

If I can design it, Ira can build it!

I'm not going to lie - that's been incredibly gratifying on a personal level because my life revolves around optimizing everything in my environment because I thrive on efficiency and have a low tolerance for anything that doesn't 'work' well, so that's translated beautifully into solutions for our clients.

I also have over 20 years of corporate program and client management experience within various industries, including manufacturing, military contracting, e-commerce, and of course residential construction.

BTW - Tucker is a registered therapy dog, so if you need that level of support during your project we've got you covered!

Together, we're able to combine our skills and passions to bring our clients' visions to life!

Our Process

What To Expect

01

SCOPE & DESIGN

It's as easy as 1 - 2- 3! As long as you don't ingnore this step, because it's by far the most critical one in the process.

It's when you convey what you need / want, and we explain your options so you can make informed decisions.

The word 'design' means a lot of things to a lot of people, but for us it's about solutions, NOT sales. We don't upsell - we'll help you understand what makes the most sense for your space from a comprehensive perspective to ensure you LOVE the end product because it's even better than what you thought was possible.

Our goal isn't to get you to spend more money, it's to make sure you don't waste it! This is where space planning, material options and colors come into play too - without fancy concept boards, unless of course you want one.

02

PLAN

We've all heard it, and it's true:

Failure to Plan is Planning to Fail

- so, we don't fly by the seat of our pants and hope for the best, we put time and energy into planning so that when you get our estimate you know what to expect and surprises and delays (which still sometimes happen) are kept to a minimum.

This is the step where the scope / design are combined with the build process to determine the timing, and thus the plan and estimate.

03

BUILD

This is when the magic happens - it just might not always feel magical while it's happening. That's normal, AND where Tucker can help :)

We've done remodeling projects lots and lots of times, but you probably haven't, so we'll help you get through the fatigue of the frustrating parts

- like when your house is torn apart and even though we're making progress, you still see framing vs finished walls -

we'll get you to the fun parts

- like seeing those new cabinets and countertops, or that mantle you've been dreaming of.

We'll support you through each step as painlessly as possible.
